Really tough day

Posted in Quit experiences
schedule 17 May 2011

I'm on my 5th day of not smoking, having smoked for the last 14 years. I've stopped cold turkey and whilst the first few days were hard today has been horrendous. I've found myself snapping at my staff and even crying in the toilets on a couple of occasions. The cravings have been really intense and I seem to have replaced nicotine with caffeine, which has made me even more jittery and anxious. I suppose this is just a vent of my frustrations.

Hang in there Laura. It will get easier. I found drinking water everytime I had a craving really worked. It gave me something to do with my hands and it was better than eating. Remember each craving only lasts for a short time. Distract yourself. Before you know it the craving will be gone. Before you know it life will be good and you'll be back to normal, only better because you will be minus the cigarettes. Keep going with this, it's worth the effort.

Hang in there girl! I know what its like, i quit cold turkey 2 months ago and not everyone is supportive but believe me its for the better. I found when my breathe felt fresher that the cravings stopped, maybe try gum or tictacs and water helps alot too. And when your at home try to substitute having a smoke for doing something else, everytime i felt ther urge i went for a walk. Hope that helps, i know you can do it. Just be strong!
