Its been 17 weeks

So its been 122 days since I went cold turkey. I can tell that the cravings are getting less frequent and my breathing is getting much better when going on a run, so that keeps me somewhat motivated to continue on down this path, but I cant help but wonder: am going to be stuck like this forever? Am I going to have to fight an urge to light one up every day? Does it ever go away?

Hi juju
Congratulations on your not smoking for 17 weeks, that’s an awesome achievement,in the answer to your question to will the wanting for a cigarette ever go away, well that’s all down to the way your thinking, all cigarettes have ever done to you is take your money,to control you,and if you carried on smoking them put you in an early grave, you’ve done the hard work, now work on your mindset, learn to hate the little sticks of poison because all they’ve ever done is take from you and controlled you,you were actually paying to slowly kill yourself, build positive thoughts,I’ve been stopped nearly 7months now and I don’t even give them an ounce of thought any more, and the reason I don’t is because why would I think or fantasise about something that I hate so Mitch, something that took so Much from me,embrace your quit every day juju, your already feeling the benefits, you’ve mentioned your breathing, there’s your taste and smell, there’s your skin that will no doubt be feeling and looking healthier, there’s not smelling like an ashtray, and there’s your health, good luck on your journey,a few little tweaks to the way your thinking and you’ve got this nailed forever, you’ll be free forever of the gross little sticks of poison,it will get easier, every day remember NOPE,...NOT ONE PUFF EVER,say it to yourself everyday, once, twice, ten times if you have to,
Your doing fantastic and well done for quitting the poison

Hi juju, your question is , I think, the best question I have ever read on this platform. I am hoping other members can help answer by telling us of their own experience's.
I guess everybody has their own story and experience's that anyone here can read. On the other hand, when I think about it, your question is probably the most common question of all time!
It is still a great question and welcome to the site!

Many do have the same question and you have to realize that it is not the nicotine addiction that you are now fighting, but the psychological one of making change.
When we WANT to do something, we do it freely and happily.
When we are opposed, we resist and are complying begrudgingly .
You do see the difference.......
Read our stories and how we are so grateful to finally be free. Enjoy all the benefits that a non-smoker has always had, and Be GRATEFUL and HAPPY that you are almost there. When you lose the desire to smoke, the cravings will not stay. Adjjust your way of thinking and EMBRACE
the quit. This is a an amazing change and you will not regret it. I have yet to hear anyone tell us otherwise.
