Hi everyone still on the non smoking train

I am still struggling with cravings.

Especially first thing in the morning.

The minute I open my eyes it's a feeling of o wait I don't smoke anymore and I fell a downer feeling happening and I don't like it.

Why this happens I do not no.

Yes I am happy that I no longer smoke but I think it's still fresh in the mind I no longer smoke.

It sounds like you are still missing it Gemma. Why ? Maybe once you can be honest with yourself, you can find ways to deal with those feelings. Watch your friend smoke , and see how that first hit satisfies the nicotine monster and once that pressure is relieved then she continues to smoke out of habit. Heedlessly smoking without thought or any further enjoyment from it. Imagine it is not a cigarette in her mouth but a twenty dollar bill. Think what you are now enjoying with your savings. Think I am glad that I am free of the slavery and stupidity of burning my money only to make myself sick again.

Every day I look around me and think how lucky I am to be alive. We are survivors Gemma. We are strong and have been given the chance to do our bodies right. A chance to do some good in life. Maybe even take a twenty and give it to someone in need. . If you can't feel good about being a non-smoker, do something that does make you feel good.

I bet you don't do that though. We can burn it but we can't part with it..........

True words happiness. I have started to open all my windows 1st thing in the morning and breath in the fresh beautiful air. That does take my mind off the smoking.

I think it's just old habits that are still playing around in the mind. But I will not give in to it

We are so much stronger.

My friend is still a smoker and yes I think gosh why do you put your body through it.

And yes keeps smoking all day every day year in year out.

I did give her the push to stop but she did not succeed.

I also am very grateful to be giving another chance wirh health. We should never take nothing for granted

I learnt that very quick

Hello again Gemma, To counteract that feeling say immediately NOPE silently or aloud. To give you the happiness on waking, every night give thanks for one joyful thing during your day. You might find more than one if you practice it regularly. Nope (not ONE PUFF ever)

Stay strong Gemma. The moment a thought of a memory of a puff would be nice.

Immediately, replace it with "I Dont Smoke"

It works for me.

As Ex-smokers, we hold memories of smoking. The never smoker doesnt understand our experience with it at-all.

We have to get to as close to the "NEVER SMOKER" as possible!

The passage of time will get the Ex-smoker to a comfortable place in the spectrum. as long as we dont have a single drag. We are all different in so many ways, but., I would think the longer we go without a single puff, the easier it gets!

Surely the EX-SMOKER can gain some comfort in knowing that.

Paying myself $185.50 every week (used to spend on filth) certainly comforts me.
