How to deal with urges to smoke

Here are my most effective ways I combat urges to smoke:
1. Chew toffee or a treat that’ll take some time to eat. Chewing gum is fine.
2. Think about the consequences of smoking and the fact that lung cancer is the deadliest type of cancer
3. If you’re a guy... masturbate. No I’m not kidding. It’s gonna get your mind completely off it and give you the dopamine your brain so desperately needs.
4. Use a crayon, pencil etc. as a pretend cigarette for about 5 mins. This may help some.
5. Nicorette spray and other products act as a placebo and help a little to. They motivate me for sure.

Hi Jeremi123. Welcome and thanks for participating in our forum. All ideas and feelings are helpful to others here to relate to and act on. Each quit is unique and as individual as you are.
It is found that scare tactics do not work, so instead of thinking of horror if you don't quit, I think it is healthier and more productive to look forward to the benefits of the quit itself. There is enough fear. What is needed is Positive thoughts.
