Need a hint or tip on dealing with the craving to inhale something

I have been quit for 19 days now! woohoo! I have been a smoker for 25 year. I got the flu and had no interest in smoking and when I got better I just decided to ride the wave and see how long I could go without having a cig. Well its been 19 days and last night I had the overwhelming urge to just have something in my hand, put it to my mouth and inhale. I didn't care if it had nicotine in it or not, but I just had a craving for the physical action of the habit and the sensation of inhaling. I have the Juul but I am saving it for emergency moments. By any chance does anyone have any tips or tricks? Ive heard people use a straw or toothpicks but I can't imagine that working for me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! thank you!

You seem to be over the hurdle, I find something to do to take my mind off the whole area of something in hand, cig etc. I have been off them since Jan only but crave one when I have a drink, so had to give up drinking too!

You have been doing so well Shellbeee. I agree with Smooch to find something else that does not resemble smoking to ride out the cravings. Every day you distance yourself from smoking you get closer to being free of cravings and can look forward to being a happy non-smoker. So many rewards, and you deserve it. Keep up the great work. Stay Positive!

well done on giving up the smokes.
what is a juul, that you keep for emergency?
Hi All, I'm new to this site...coming from USA. 14 days so far for me. I have found that Cinnamon Sticks (from the spice aisle at grocery) work to use as a
pretend cigarette. I think the motion along with the exhaling calms me down after a few breaths.

Thank you soooo much everyone for the support! I"m from the U.S. (California) and am soooo grateful I happened upon this site! I think this site is really what I think is gonna help me through this.
@smooch and @happiness- you both are soooo right! I would have never thought that maybe when I get that craving that I should try to find a distraction that does not relate to the bad habit. Thank you for opening my eyes to that.
@red -67 - thats a great idea! I am not a coffee drinker but I like your idea of the steam and such. Next time I plan to try the deep breathing technique and see if that will work too =)
@puffnomore- the Juul is basically a nicotine vape pen/electronic cigarette. IT is reallly popular right now and has been the best e cigarette for me meaning I love the flavor and the draw. So I recently bought a new one and just have it on hand. However, all these studies are coming out that the Juul has way more nicotine than other ecigarettes and people are getting addicted to them. So I havent used it yet because I'm trying to just be over nicotine - period. Hope this info helps =)
@russianwinnie- that is such a creative idea! and I love cinnamon. I'm so glad that you have found something that works for you! Keep it up!

Hi Shellbeee, I'm using a disposable no-nicotine / no-tobacco Electronic Vapouriser that does not produce smoke, only vapour, so it's legal to use inside but at the discretion of the establishment ... plus other places/situation where smoking is either discouraged or frowned upon.
I found it in a Tobacconist on the Central Coast but have just sourced it available on-line too at a much cheaper price in packs of 5.
It's fatter and longer than a cigarette but you get the satisfaction of inhaling flavoured vapour with a little coloured vapour exhaled and it comes in 9 flavours mostly fruit, but one I've found is just what I need ... "British Tobacco" lol - it took a while to get used to - 1/2 a day and then, together with the Nicorette patches I'm on - the Quit Step 1, 2, 3 ... I'm not missing the sensation of not smoking real cigarettes at all - but I'm only on day 9!
They're only $9.95 in the tobacco shops and it lasts for 500-1,000 puffs - I suppose that depends on how much you inhale - but what you can "inhale" is not the same as a cigarette is - sometimes I just puff a little harder to see the lightly coloured vapour come out something similar to what you'd see a puff on a cigarette do!
I tried the Blueberry but think, for me, it's pointless tasting sickly sweet stuff when I need the look/feel/taste of a cigarette to successfully use the patches - which are necessary for me at the moment due to my unusual health conditions (I've a story posted on it).
I've also sourced packs of 5 tonight on the internet for $19.95 which is only $3.99 for me and with my particular health requiring a special diet (expensive) and smoking nicotine cigarettes (a rare instance) - but also having to watch a cardiac problem until a couple of procedures to fix that too is resolved, then this is my best balance in being able to afford my special (& more expensive) diet also.
Although I've stopped/started smoking a few times re operations, this is the best fit for me at the moment because I have a (rare) medical need to not stop "cigarette smoking" and needed to balance that with the fact that my special diet could be afforded. Once I'm clear of immediate problems I'll need to evaluate future usage ... but until medical research finds another solution (as regards tobacco cigarette smoking being beneficial) then this will be my ongoing plan.
Not that I'm advocating this long-term for quitters but if one finds it really hard and finds they need that psychological (?) relief of light/inhale exhale taste etc (or has one of only about 6 world-wide but little known medical conditions - specific cancers and/or disorders), then this particular Disposable (and only the Disposable not the other types) Vapestix Smokeless Tobacco-less Nictotine Free Vapourizer might be the adjunct tool needed if either one really can't go cold turkey or cut down & quit on the patches!
Anyway, hope this might help instead of the Nicotine Juul & good luck quitting!, Deb

personally I have heard many derogatory information about Juul as well as e cigarettes. Since few studies have been completed on them, I would be very concerned about using such a device. Here are a few links you can read for yourself, so you can make a decision, but if it was me, I'd steer clear of any type of device such as these.
