I'm on day 6 of my journey and am finding that I am constantly hungry. When I feel start to feel hungry I drink water, my water intake had tripled, but I'm not thirsty, I'm starving. Does this stop? I'm trying to eat fruit and other healthy stuff but the volume will catch up very soon. Advice please.

Hi Mlh. A healthy breakfast of oatmeal, with mashed banana and unsweetened cocoa powder and topped with almond milk and a sprinkle of nuts or seeds is my nutritional favourite and very filling. A vegetable soup or salad with a sandwich (egg/salmon/cheese) for lunch, sliced apple and cinnamon for a snack. A dinner of meat/veg/pot and a later snack of cottage cheese or yogurt topped with some fruit is a pretty balanced diet to keep you full . Junk food is empty calories and sugars sent you craving more sugars.

Just an idea . Remember it is the sugars, fats and condiments that add the calories. Keep on getting healthy!

hello mlh welcome to this site .I heard that the brain can think that a craving for nicotine is sometimes taken to be hunger, so if you know you have had plenty to eat then try and ignore the hunger pangs as they are a trick , to get you to smoke. you are doing so well, stick with your fruit and veg snacks and water . enjoy each day of your new non-smoker life

I am 4 month without cig. Hence can share that you will feel normal after 3 to 4 weeks . Sometimes our brain confuse us in different ways. Stay focused. If u feel hungry, enjoy food or water rather than pounding so much that it could be a effect of quitting.

Don't think too much. Stay cool.stay strong..

Keep sharing. We are here to support you .

That feeling of being hungry all the time does subside. I felt the same way. You just want to eat! I'm 5 months now and can say that things have settled down in that area. Even if you do put on a little weight, you can always lose it later. Just stay on a healthy eating plan.

I’m so glad I came across your post and the responses from everyone. I’m headed into week 2 of my quit and ugh unfortunately eating everything in sight. It’s encouraging to know that it’s a normal side effect of quitting and it will pass. In the meantime I’m going to drink water, stock the fridge with greens & steer clear of the biscuits .

Hope you are through the hungry cycle and are doing well with your quit.
