Great reviews for the book. One review does say the printing is small. (He has added a few points to his first book "Easy Way"which is excellent as well.Read the reviews. I have posted both.

If you are having difficulties, need re-inforcement or heck reward yourself early for taking the effort to even learn about the steps to quit. i.e. coming to this help group. I liked weewilliam's page she called "Day 1 (Again) and the comments and support. Still at a loss as to why the book didn't work for her. It did work for others, and my husband. I believe in it. Weewilliam posted the Easy Way site that also has a few 5 minute samples of this and his other quit smoking books . To buy there requires downloading a reading for a cost and the book is free. My link you just buy the e-book and the Kindle reader is free.

Stay strong in your quest for freedom.

Happiness, where do you get the over 80% success rate for Allan Carr? The best I could find was a claim of "between 24.2% to 41.1% depending on the assumptions and on the selections of participants", this study was paid for by Werkt Holding B.V. which is the Dutch licensee holder of “Allen Carr’s Easyway to Stop Smoking” who have a financial interest in pushing his products. The British Medical Journal, Trial registration number ISRCTN12951013 of 2016 indicated that 21.9% of subjects remained non smoking at 12 months. While the BMJ trial supported the benefits of Allan Carr's methods I think you may have overstated its success rate.

Hi

I maintain the success rate for those giving up smoking regardless of the method is about 2% to 4%. Just look on this site to see how many never return. Some often, more just sporadically over time, even more, Never. This is not easy. I don't think one bandaid is going to be a successful fix. I do however, believe that ongoing support from fellow quitters goes a long way to helping. I don't think we can achieve success on our own. The other good thing about this site is that if someone errs, they often confess and better still often return in an effort to try again.

Lia, agree success rate is small on first attempt but many keep trying and with support from sites like this many eventually succeed in becoming non-smokers. Many people have found Alan Carr's book helpful and I don't want to discourage people from reading it because clearly it has been of help to many people. I was only trying to water down some of the exaggerated claims made. As I have written before it doesn't matter how you quit smoking, only that you quit.

You are right john, lol , again. Yes , i guess %80 was a biased figure, but it sure does sound good doesn't it. We want optimism on this site, and since it is a mere book for pennies spent on ciggies, chocked full of great ideas, stories, inspiration and truths, excuse me for trying to motivate even more people. I am afraid to even say that nicotine withdrawals are not physical, because clearly there are others who disagree, so i do try to be a little more careful again with my words of encouragement. Most people are surprised that withdrawals are not painful but mere urges. NRT;s have side effects, of their own too, or maybe it is not related to nicotine at all. I am not going to call anyone a liar for their beliefs.

I am glad that you too have succeeded in your quit, in a different method and are active on this forum. THAT is the most important part to take from this conversation. Helping others to achieve what we accomplished in whatever way.

I believe Allan Carr had great ideas and something for all to consider.

Happiness, I agree that Allan Carr has helped many people give up smoking and support you and others who advocate his methods. We need to be positive on this site and support each other. I know that is what you are always trying to do and commend you for it. Sometimes I think you and I come from different paths, you maybe are more of a new-age person and maybe I am more from the right. I may be wrong, however we both want the same thing and that is to assist others to give up smoking. Happiness, keep up the good work and if I ever disagree with you in the future know its not personal, its just my personality.
