What is a Happpy Non-Smoker?
We Join a quit group to help enable us to quit smoking., that is the one thing we have in common here. . We come to share ideas, and support and to learn tools to aid using in our own quits. Not everyone 's method of quit is the same, or their quitting experience. Or their reasons for quiting. Cravings are no exception.
I see people here for all kinds of reasons, some have come of their own free will to better themselves. Others hve been pushed to quit by a spouse . Some are here because they can't afford it any longer but i think unfortunately most are here because of health issues.
Those who come willingly are already in the positive mindset of quitting while others forced or coherced are scared into acting and therefore feel deprived. The only thing they were deprived of was REALLY only the choice of quitting. Well not much of a choice, quit or live with severe consequences.
So congratulations on taking steps to better health and overall living. Since coming here i realize there are different levels of commitment to non-smoking. In explaining them , i hope i can more clearly define what i am. A Happy Non-Smoker.

I guess that makes some of us a current smoker/non-smoker and some here ex-smokers.
The term i use "Happy Non-Smoker " is Allan Carr's term in his EASYWAY quit smoking book. His is a Cold turkey approach but as it is about mindset, beneficial to everyone regardless of your smoking status.l People read the book and quit smoking just before finishing it. (he also offers a 5 hour course) Very powerful.
So what is meant by Happy?
cheerful, joyful, delighted, pleased, contented, in good spirits
So you may be Non-Smokers, but are you happy? You could be without the cravings always bringing you down. You could be if you could believe you could live like a non-smoker, and you can see that you are not giving up anything, that you are gaining so much and you shouldn't feel in any way deprived. TThose feelings would make this journey just the opposite of a happy one. Shed all the fear. It is all in the Mindset. There is no will power needed. The truth shall set you free.

That is so wonderful Safe
I am truly happy for you. The new ones joining or ones who have relapsed and come back need an easier journey to stick with it. smokers out there afraid to try because they are brainwashed by society that it is soo hard to kick the habit.I was. I didn't find it that hard, even if i had some cravings as others do at this point, i would still have found it much easier than i had expected. What about you?

Hi Happiness, it seems that my last successful and still ongoing quit was easier than some other quits before this one. Having said that, it was still quite unpleasant nonetheless. Craivings, mental and emotional ups and downs, etc, etc wasn’t fun but deep inside I felt very determined not to give in or give up. Basically I wanted to quit more than anything else and it didn’t mater that my body and brain were telling me that just one puff will make everything much better. I just stayed the course and I am glad I did.

Hello Everybody. I found a picture that i hope might help a better understanding of what is meant by a mindset. At first you see a skull, Reminds me of the nictne monster, but he is hiding the truth.. look harder and what do you see?https://www.pinterest.ca/pin/213639576043778728/?lp=true
Once you see the truth, you can't unsee it. The Mind is a powerful thing.

Did you see anything except the skull? (nicotine monster) If you look at the truth you will see 2 people celebrating with wine on the table and another bucket of wine ready to enjoy on a smaller table on the right below. This could be you in the picture. Once you see the truth, you can't unsee it. See what the nicotine monster is trying to hide from you. Understand the mindset we speak of.

I found the link to Allan Carrs updated book of Easy Way .If you are having difficulties, or heck reward yourself early for taking the effort to even learn about the steps to quit. i.e. coming to this help group. Spend less than a weeks worth of cigs and put them down for life.Allan has an over 80% success rate.....https://www.penguin.co.uk/books/218/21822/the-only-way-to-stop-smoking-permanently/9781405916387.html
I liked weewilliam's page she called "Day 1 (Again) and the comments and support. Still at a loss as to why the book didn't work for her. It did work for others, and my husband. I believe in it. Weewilliam posted the Easy Way site that also has a few 5 minute samples of this and his other quit smoking books . To buy there requires downloading a reading for a cost and the book is free. My link you just buy the e-book and the Kindle reader is free.
Stay strong in your quest for freedom.
