Just do it

1045 days free of nicotine and rarely think of cigarettes other than those poor people having to sneak out for a “ fix “. After 53 years of smoking I finally quit. For me I was just sick of the whole habit. I had half tried to quit a few times but this time I knew enough was enough. I took a selfie of me smoking my last cigarette , took a deep breath , and made a decision to face whatever came at me and went cold turkey. The difference this time was “ I really wanted to quit “. I don’t feel smug just lucky. I stuck close to this forum and posted often. For me in the early days I ate chocolate eclairs and drank really strong sweet coffees when the urges came on. What I do know is that one cigarette would send me straight back. ( snakes and ladders ).

That is so fantastic! What a great story. I'm hoping to keep strong and never have one again! 19 days and feeling proud 😊

Huge congratulations to you Dobbin!!!
I am almost half the way through of what you have achieved. Good on you!!

Hi Dobbin. Always knew you would be there for the long haul. Just did the sums. You are only 50 days away from 3 years. Power to you. I am still free from the habit and therefore 100 days "ahead" of you. We both know it is not a race. All quitters are winners. And it is no easy sprint either. We know staying quit will take "forever".

Hi Lia. Great to hear from you and well past your 3 years. Thanks again for all your help and others we don’t hear from now ( trust they are ok). Had a quote for teeth repair ( £6000 ) but hey I can afford it now. Lost two teeth eating chocolate eclairs in the early days plus years of nicotine abuse. Stay with us and enjoy the ride. Hope all is well with you.

You are doing great Dobbin.
