I live with a smoker...need advise!

I am 3 days free of the slave driving demon cigarettes! My question to everyone is what did you do when caught off guard by the sudden and unexpected whiff of a cigarette? My fiancée still smokes, thankfully outside (I used to as well) and he’s been very respectful of not smoking directly in front of or near me, however, if I step out back and he’s out front for example and I smell it unexpectedly, it’s like woah...they still smell good. Right now it’s been pretty easy fighting the cravings but this is my 3rd time quitting and for some reason the first few days were always easier for me. It’s in the coming weeks and months I have to be extremely careful. So I need advise, tips, tricks and especially encouragement from your stories please!

It seems to me that Quitting is a mind game, we all have triggers, some more often, some less often I expect. I don't have a smoker in my household, so I don't have that trigger, but if I did, I would treat it the same as any other.
Distract yourself from the craving and remind yourself YOU are no longer a slave to cigarettes and most important, be proud of that fact.

When you smell tobacco smoke, you can rejoice that you don't have to smoke any longer. You have escaped living your life around smoking

Those are some great points and I will definitely keep them in mind when these triggers do occur. So far so good and your right, I am grateful to no longer be a slave. I do really feel bad for smokers now, they think they can’t stop and they’re terrified! But they have no idea if they would just adapt the right mindset they could do anything they wanted. As I have gotten older I have finally realized that I really can do anything I put my mind to. I stopped telling myself I can’t and started realizing I was my own worst enemy. All I can say is I am so glad I got sick because it was the wake up call I needed to realize quitting was the best thing for me. How often do you want to thank somebody for getting you sick LOL probably the first time for me but again I am grateful and feel everything happens for a reason! I really appreciate the great advice and support from everyone!

see you at a non smoker . so you don't need to smoke .. as you are free healthy man. you don't envy anyone smoking instead of pity the smoker just observe carefully. they smoke a cigarette for just 5 min .. and after 1 hr they again light up another and another .. they are boubd to smoke. they are slave of nicotine. they are addicted.. but feel that you are free ..you are healthy.. always say positively that I want air.. give me some air..please replace the term cigarette with AIR..as our sub conscious mind can not process negatives.. so if you say to yourself don't smoke, then it wold be difficult to resist desire to smoke. you say I want air.. then it would be easier to you to be a healthy non-smoker.. always say that you are greater than addiction.. I urge you to see nasia davos on ted talk ..you tube..

Keep up the good work. It may smell good. But that's the nicotine monster inside you. The more you feed it. It will always want more. Don't give it any more. Besides. Soon as you take that puff or a few. You'll be looking at the cigarette and telling yourself it isn't really worth it and that it tastes like crap anyway. Then you put it out and then be upset with yourself for even giving in. Enjoy the craving. Just accept! And enjoy. Have a glass of cold water and squeezed lemon instead. Take a cold shower. It will help with will power. Just don't pick up that smoke. Your fiancee is OK. Don't blame him. No one will put a gun to your head. You will be the one to pick and light that cigarette. And slowly kill yourself. So long. Stay strong.
