I was a long term (40 yrs), heavy smoker (50 plus daily), attempting Champix for the 4th time. This time, instead of giving up after a week I persevered to let my body get used to & settle with some side effects which encouraged me to continue. I still had side effects, other than laxatives, I struggled & coped with the rest because I was determined. After a couple of weeks I only smoked 1 a day so stopped altogether because there was just no point!

As an experienced smoker & quitter (read & tried everything), I knew most nicotine leaves the body within 72 hrs. Yay, that helps with the physical side but my biggest downfall (same as most) was the mental aspect of smoking.

Problem solved by reading, Allen Carr's Easyway to Stop Smoking then I also watched the 1 hr session on youtube. Watching reinforced all I'd learned in the book. (For a personal touch search the internet for sessions available in your area)

This really works, 1st please try Allen Carr's method as many have succeeded with this alone. 2nd give both a go and double your chance to become a happy non-smoker for the rest of your life.......

I am into my second day of my quit. I have a lot of books to read. Alan Carr's book is on my library list of things to borrow. There was a time when I wasn't ready to read it. I needed to control my mind myself. I was not open to suggestions. Now that I am feeling stronger, I am looking forward to find out what it is all about. Thanks for the reminder.

My two brothers & my son stopped smoking using Champix. Recently my sister did as well, which inspired me to try again for the 4th time. 3 previous attempts at Champix, after a few days I'd feel extremely sick (both body & mind), therefore an excuse to give up trying & stop this medication. Thanks to my sister, this time I was determined to deal with side effects & continue longer. I remained on Champix for the minimum time I thought was right for me, (6 weeks) & I read Allen Carr's Easy way to stop smoking. (also on utube)

RESULT: 8 weeks without a cigarette & thanks to Allen Carr.... I'm not even tempted because I'm now & always will be an extremely happy non smoker!!
