Continued success

One year and one week cigarette free and really enjoying the fantastic sense of freedom of being estranged from the nicotine imp.
When I finally decided to quit after 53 years of smoking I took a photograph smoking my last cigarette ( which I still keep as a reminder )
I knew that every single bit of an idea that nicotine was beneficial had to be absolutely crushed.
The first few weeks were horrendous but for once I had that steely resolve that was needed to see it through.
This program has been so beneficial in assisting and the help given by others here has been brilliant.
I know that most of you who have recently quit are going through a bad time. I also know that only smokers really understand the journey you are going through.
Quitting smoking is a massive big deal and not to be underestimated.
Advice. Reach on to a few people here and journey with them.
I never thought I would ever quit and neither did my family.
Whatever pains and tribulations we go through in the early stages of quitting are far outweighed by the following benefits.
Clean clothes
No bad breath
More money
Better health
No rasping coughs
Clear chest
Less risk of heart disease and cancer
Lower blood pressure
Sense of wellbeing
Not having to sneak outside at work or meals etc
Not having to lie about how many we smoke.
No yellow fingers
No yellow hair
Conjunctivitis cleared up
Not feeling like a second class citizen
Not having to change clothes three times a day.
Keeping out of the smoke bin at airports.
Really enjoying food
More energy
Enjoying long walks
Respect of friends and family.
Having breakfast instead of nicotine
Feeling whole again.

What a fabulous list Dobbin, I can relate to a fair bit of that and I'm still a newbie, day 46 I think. When people say they don't feel any better, they don't think of all those small things above that together make a huge difference to life...

Hey Cranky. You are fast becoming an ex newbie. Have been following your posts and note that steely resolve necessary. Note also you have been through some serious s••t. Well done and thanks for your posts.

wow, what a great post and so true, my last cigarette was on 20 Jan this year so a little way to go yet but this is the kind of post that keeps all of us on here going. I think you should buy yourself a massive treat. Debbie

You really inspire me to keep going Dobbin, your list is so spot on and your achievement is awesome. I'm still struggling with the mental cravings but it helps to know someone else conquered the nicotine and one😊
