STRESS & SMOKING

Posted in Hints and tips
schedule 14 Jul 2016

Whenever I am in a stressful situation - the kind a lot of people use for having a cigarette - I ask myself "What will be different about this stressful situation if I have a cigarette? The answer is always "nothing" will be different except I will feel horrible and guilty for smoking. It gets me through the moment. Smoking does not help a stressful situation - it just adds to it!

technically a hit of nicotine does help reduce stress for a short time but its the side affects that make it no good will besides death there is a myriad of side affects that are not good.

there is a reason how ever why we get addicted to smoking it hits dopamine receptors in the brain so it does make us feel good.

its the risk v reward that needs to be understood and when we understand that we will learn new ways of dealing with life.

hopefully they are not as destructive :)

its no accident we get addicted !!

so day 107 for me today so it can be done one thought at time.

keep reading keep sharing.

Well done, Johdi, for reading the signs and not succumbing under pressure. Knowing you can get through these situations without lighting up is an achievement in itself. You're stronger than you realise and tougher than the cravings. You're brilliant, keep going.

Thanks for your share Johdi, I've written it down and and added it to a list of quotes I have posted in my house (I also have a copy in my car).
