Hi and welcome ddw. Congrats on taking your first steps to quitting. I am also using Champix, with success. It varies with everyone but for me it happened gradually and around the week 2 mark. I didnt really choose a quit date as I felt it made me feel anxious. I noticed i wasnt smoking as much, they tasted awful and the last day i smoked was when I knew it was quit day. It was my one and only smoke for the day and in the morning..and i didnt even finish it, stubbed it out and that was it. Good luck on your journey and keep us posted.

welcome ddw, I also used Champix, I smoked normal right up to my date. Then on my quit date I didn't smoke anymore, not as easy as it sounds I had to find a lot of willpower especially that first 24 hours but my head was in the right place and this time I was not going to smoke.

Today i am smoke free 90 days after over 45 years of smoking it gets better as time goes on but I still think about smoking more than I would like, and some days are are horrible and I think maybe I can't do this, then realise I am doing this one day at a time. Try to not put to much pressure on yourself smoke til your date if you need to everyone is different.

For Me The Champix worked within the first 3 hours of taking the first starter tablet... I didn't have a quit date .. just when this packet is finished, I was determined not to buy another...

The thing that I noticed in those first few hours was that.... I thought the cigarette was actually lit properly, as I was getting any "drag" and even went to relight it.. don't expect a light bulb moment , just don't fight the Champix.. its blocking stuffs in your brain.... it works you just need to work with it.. as hard as that may be ... you will still have cravings and you will still "Kill for a smoke" but with the pills you will be able to fight that off

Was taking Champix for 5 weeks before I quit. This was the second time around. Last time I cut down to 1-2 a day but never stopped. This time I set a date. That was 15 days ago. Hang in there. The forst week is not easy but worth it. Am breathing more easily, better sense of smell ( not always a good thing) & food taste different. It is a new world after 35 years.
