The mental and almost spiritual

I make no excuses for the fact I believe that there are spiritual answers to things that baffle many in this world. If you don't like the word spiritual, then call it what you want but how can we say we've ever been logical people if we've always known how bad smoking was and is for us and at the same time we simply can't quit. If you were looking at this from a purely medical perspective then it is entirely possible that smokers could be considered somewhat insane. How many times and how many of us have said " I want to quit and I will quit some day" but honestly, the days, months and years go on and we simply don't quit at all.

If you've stumbled across this article and you're a heavy smoker who is already beginning to feel that you are too tired to smoke, then consider quitting this minute. Don't wait for tomorrow because tomorrow may never come. Do you want to quit? I'm sure most of us do and all it takes is for us to put down those cigarettes and to stay away from nicotine for a few days until it leaves our system.

In the first few days of my own quit I needed all the encouragement I could get, so I repeatedly searched google to find out what short term benefits we can expect if we quit smoking for an hour, a day, a few days etc. Let me give an example --- In as few as 12 hours after quitting smoking, the carbon monoxide in your body decreases to lower levels. In turn, the amount of oxygen in your blood increases to normal levels.

Once we make it past those few days and nicotine is out of our system, we will really benefit from knowledge about our addiction and for me I needed to come to blogs like this either to see how other people were doing or to blog myself. Give it a go if you are shy because these blogs are anonymous. Tell people what you think and don't worry about being technically incorrect as I honestly feel it does not matter how we get through the early days but just that we somehow get through. That we get through enough days so that we are more relaxed and in a position to think about what we've been doing all along. I think that a bit of quit time gives us the opportunity to be more objective about things, especially our addiction to nicotine

yep denial is not just a river in where ever it is LOL

that's part of the illness isn't it a great knack of believing my own bullsh$t , I had too to keep smoking.

so yes once I know the truth its sure hard to smoke, not saying its easy to quit !!

I think after 55 days I feel worse still struggling to get air in my body and well its no cake walk that's for sure and some days I don't want to do it, but the only thing I can grab on to is hope that it will get better, and well it cant get worse well not from smoking anyway.

my point is don't wait as MC said quit now before its too late and one day it will be.

Oh my goodness, Flora, that's hilarious. At least we all still have out sense of humour, eh!

You're right though, MC, there is no logic as to why we take up smoking. We are all rational, intelligent people (with weird humour issues but aside form that) I now can't think of a single reason why I started smoking or why I didn't stop sooner. I think it's a simple thing of facing the fear and laughing at it.

IC, 55 days is incredible. Have you tried mediation? You can get free guided meditation off t'internet. Let me know if you want any recommendations, very happy to assist.
