Keep trying!!!

This is my 4th attempt at Champix. The last time I tried it, I kept sneaking in a couple of ciggies here and there well passed the 2 week end date until eventually I just started smoking again. This time around I stopped one day before the end date and have not had a ciggie at all! I'm also doing breathing exercises when I get that little niggle to smoke which actually only lasts a few seconds. The hardest time for me is in the evening, after I've had dinner but I'm coming up with different ways to combat that. I won't say that it's not hard, because this is one of the hardest things I have ever done. The physicality of giving birth is on par with the mental strength required to give up. The day of my last ciggie was a minute by minute battle - I had to keep telling myself not to go to the supermarket, petrol station and 7-Eleven which I drive past all the time. I was even visualising myself walking in, buying a packet and smoking!! But I just kept driving and thought about the $30 I had just saved myself! I also talk to my husband a fair bit about my challenges throughout the day (he is a non-smoker) so it keeps me honest and on-track! Good luck with your journey, I hope you make it, just like I hope I do 😀 But if this attempt isn't successful, just keep trying!

not an attempt really is its the real deal we do not smoke so we do not smoke :)
just for today I will not have a ciggy and its always today.
well done and keep up being honest about how you feel its important.

Hi Buttout,
I will try to remember your description " The physicality of giving birth is on par with the mental strength required to give up!"
I've never given birth but I know about suffering in my lifetime, so your description helps me to see that every day I am away from the nicotene I am winning another battle in an all out war.
I read somewhere the other day that some famous rock star/drug addict said that it was harder for him to give up smoking vs giving up drugs. If thats true, then lets be grateful for every smoke free day we have!
