Posative Self-talk

Posted in Hints and tips
schedule 1 Dec 2015

I am a few hours smoke-free. I want to have a quit attempt in the morning. I believe I can do it with posative self-talk. The quitline say I'm very posative. I ask my husband to buy cigarettes for me when things get rough. I find not saying anything works best. Then the patch passes no drama. If I concentrate on things like my garden or the weather, I get over the thoughts of smoking. It's only the thoughts that are left of my cravings. I smoke out of habit. So tomorrow I make smoking history. I enter a new phase of my life as a free and independant person.

It sounds like you have the right attitude to do this. Just hang in there when you are feeling a bit rough because before too long things will start improving and you will feel better. All the best penelopejane.

You can do it Penelopejane. We all gain control over our addiction to nicotine one withdrawal incident at a time. Each withdrawal incident is a skirmish. Remember, the most important skirmish in every war is the next one!
