It's everywhere

I have noticed that there are plenty of stories about smoking and tobacco in the papers and on TV. Recently this smoking ban was announced for our prison population. I don't necessarily agree that they should be forced to stop smoking, but I thought I would be in an absolute panic if I would be forced to stop. I would riot too. Also, the price of ciggies and tobacco will be going up again. There is no more smoking allowed outside premises where food is served and no more smoking neat playgrounds, etc.....When I was smoking on my verandah, I was always hoping my neighbours wouldn't smell my smoke. I would not even consider going to live in a flat in the city if I still smoked. Just some thought to keep me, and hopefully you, on track.

It really is everywhere and some who are still smokers wish with all their heart they didn't . I always feared being the 'one' who couldn't do it no matter how sick I may have become...fears gone now thankfully...isn't it strange all the fears you harbour as a smoker and still puff away . As for prisons and even forcing people to quit won't work...we all know it has to come from within yourself. I have a friend who at 50 had a heart attack causing a bi pass to be done...very ill for some time as part of the heart couldn't be repaired. Guess what??? His smoking :-(

Isn't it funny ( not haha but strange) how much you see about smoking in papers and on ads etc once you stop. I think I must have ignored them before.. The cost is so high now that I really don't know how people will be able to afford them if they go up more. AND the jails, I would riot too Lindavan if I was made to stop and not do it by my own choice.

Well I am fed up with being a smoker in front of children. I wil be having an addition to the family. My neice is pregnant. I am busy with my chrochet hook. I am busy making blanket and I have already made a vest. The nicest thing I could possibly do for the family is quit. I am really struggling with this.

I have a friend who is a prison guard he admits to nearly resigning, took all his leave and spent it trying to stop smoking, he believes he had no choice. Now is grateful for this but realises how tuff it is for the imates, he at least gets to go home. Still not smoking but struggles every day. Like me he isolates from friends who smoke even put up no smoking signs every where, doesn't apologise to anyone he has taken himself first, now or forever. Like me he used to get offended when people ask him to move away from them perhaps it just was not passive smoking.
