Do not underestimate the power of chewing gum!

Day 20 is nearly over and I have Wriggley's Extra chewing gum to thank. I'm rather fond of the strawberry flavor. When ever I feel overwhelmed through the day I pop one in my mouth( sugar free) and the chewing and concentrating on it helps divert my thinking. In saying that I am a little vague and forgetful since I stopped smoking and find myself in situations where I have forgotten something. Flooded the kitchen the other day as I walked out as forgot I had the sink filling up with water!! It's been quite an interesting 20 days to say the least. I think I am past the insomnia and when I do get sleep not waking every 2 hours or so, I'm very excited about this. Life is looking better.

Go Cranky76,I think it is really important to maintain a sense of humour on this journey. I've had days like that where I'm just not with it. I tell people I'm in "fairyland".but you know and I know it's sooooo worth it .i ate so many almonds when I gave up in the first few weeks that put it this way , it wasn't too good. Anyway look how good we are now.people say it gets easier and it certainly does. Be very proud of yourself you are going well.youre a bit of a warrior surviving what you have so far.keep up the good work

Nannette, I do love a good laugh and I believe a sense of humor is what is keeping me sane- though sometimes that is questionable!. Love your posts, they often make me smile..

Day 14 for me. I to am very vague & forgetful. Thought that once the smokes went I would function better. I even keep forgetting to put a patch on before I leave the house as the patches havent become a habit yet lol & then its hard to stay focused. Been a bit emotional lately but at least now I can say its from quitting & not age related lol.

Hi Shyang, the forgetfulness is unbelievable! I am surprised I have not burnt the house down yet... Best of luck!
