Just want to say thanks - got through my first social evening with smokers

Hi guys, thanks to this site I have got through my first social night where there were smokers. I have always struggled in this area, but thanks to your tips on here I managed with ease not to smoke. I had a couple of drinks with friends (smokers) and I did not crave a cigarette AT ALL (couldn't believe it actually). I think now that I am "mentally" committed and realise we have been brainwashed all these years by the cigarette companies, I can successfully quit for good. On the other hand, I still have my guard up as the "nicotine monster" can hit at any time. I feel strong that I have this site to check in on for support. #INTO MY 8th day of being a "non smoker" ..

Yay, I'm so happy - you did it. See it is possible. You were very brave to give it a go so soon. Well done. Yes, do keep your guard up though, it will wait & strike when you least expect it. Keep up the good work Jakksta.

Awesome accomplishment Jakksta. Keep going... you don't need the stinky, poison nicotine to have a good time. Be proud of yourself for not smoking ;).

Well done to you, now you have done it, keep it in your arsenal of weapons. If you find yourself in a similar position and you believe you might slip, think back to this time and remind yourself that you have done it before and how you didn't need the dirty cig to have a great night. keep at it and

Hi wantto ... I used the patches this time for a month and have just gone off them on Monday (today is Thursday) ... I am now 33 days smoke free and feel fantastic that I have beaten this ... I have been trying to quit for a couple of years now.. It has been a difficult journey but I have learned so many valuable lessons along the way. My biggest failure in the end was having a drink and needing a cigarette. I have now finally overcome this and can enjoy social situations without smoking (although I will always have my guard up for the next few months).. Good Luck and never give up quitting. Sometimes it takes a couple of try's but is so worth it in the end :)
