Champix...
I started Champix 8 days ago, on the first day i took the 0.5mg tablet and was surprised that the taste of cigarettes was awful an hour later, i thought this is how it would remain.. however, day 2 the taste was normal and since then i have not really felt the positive effects... i have felt many of the negatives ones, terrible dreams and i wake up still thinking i have actually lived everything i just had the dream about. The anxiety is terrible, however, i take a 1/4 of a tab of Xanax to overcome that problem... i also had a few hours of rather manic behavior which is just not me... i gave myself the stop date of day 8 which was today, however, i felt the need to change that as i really don't feel that the tablets are having any positive effect. Has anyone else had this issue?? Will they kick in soon?

If u are experiencing aloot of issues consult ur doctor. Maybe champix is not suitable foor u maybe there is another smoking aid that will help
Thanks Dawndor, i did go to the dotor and he prescribed the Xanax... guess it is a work in progress... and i will get there!!

Hi Peter, sorry but I don't know anything about Champix or Xanax but keep trying and you'll find what works for you. I just quit cold turkey & so far so good! I wish you all the very best - keep up the good work!
Horay!!! Woke up this morning and didn't feel like smoking, around half way through the day i really felt like smoking, so i did... i smoked half a cigarette but didn't feel like i was getting anything from it, so i put it out... that was 12 hours ago!! So from 30 a day to a half of one today. I guess i was just panicking as i didn't think they would work... and then once the does was increased Champix seems to have done what it promises. I have been having cravings all day but they are nowhere near as bad as when i have tried before. Now that i have seen i can go a without smoking, i am going to stick to this! Thanks all

Hi peter, well done and good on you for persisting. I started champix about 4 weeks ago. From day one I was able to feel the effects of champix however I too would have days where I felt it wasn't working so well. It felt a little inconsistent. Some days I had to exercise more will than others.
I quit about a week before my quit date. My thought process was why postpone the inevitable. As of today I haven't smoked for 2 weeks. First time in 29 yrs and it feels wonderful. I am so elated. I stopped champix over a week ago with no regrets. For me the biggest hurdle was the first week smoke free. It was my personal choice to discontinue and I would encourage each to choose what feels right for them. Week 2 was the beginning of breaking associations and sitting with any urges. I refuse to ever think one ciggie or one puff is ever ok. I have gotten this far and thankfully each day does feel a little easier. Happy to be a non smoker! Never dreamed this was possible for me and loving my new reality! No longer a slave to the stinky ciggi!
Keep going...we can all do it! X
Thanks Miff! So glad you have reached 2 weeks!! That really is amazing! I totally know where you are coming from, having smoked for 27 years, i see every day that i don't smoke as a major achievement. I had the thoughts of "just one puff will be ok" but i kept telling myself "if i have come this far, i really don't need any puffs!" It really isn't easy!! I am going to join a gym today... i have grown rather fond of chocolate biscuits so have to deal with them!!! LOL!! Hopefully working out will also give me something to aim for too. Good luck with the rest of your journey, you are doing an amazing thing!!
X

HI Peter, Champix led me into a bundle of anxiety problems. BE CAREFUL of these PILLS.
Three years later I still have a trembling problem which I associate to the use of these pills.
I know everyone is different, but pills are pills and I wanted to share my experience with them.
Talk to your doctor and chemist about Vaping instead.
Best wishes and congratulations for your decision to get rid of the smokes.
