In the end I won!! This is a long one

Never quit quitting.  This time I won. 4th time on champix but I was scared of not smoking or what it would be like without them. I started smoking at 11yo am now 42!  I guess I made the decision to hate nicotine and the way smoking ruled my time.  I've had to give up beer too (JUST FOR NOW) cos as many of us know drinking and smoking ... Need I say more.

For some it's easy, I got up to buying dbl pkts 25's nearly every day. I only use to smoke 10 a day. Wow expensive and gee I seemed to spend so much time outside in the cold SMOKING! I hated the smell in my hair and clothes, my partner is a reformed smoker(18months)!, he wouldn't kiss me anymore. I was nearly vomitting with my morning coffee and cig. Then I would go for my morning walk, I actually did vomit from so much nicotine in my system. I had to make myself this sick with smokes to make myself quit... Sad isn't it.  I was so scared what life would b like without them. I've smoked 31 years. I decided to quit day 5 of champix. I didn't. But I told myself it's ok do it when I run out at night so there's none in the morning. This was day 8. So I stocked up with 3 days of food and movies so I didn't have to leave the house or go near shops to buy smokes. Those 3 days were not easy but I always seemed to fail day 3 every other time I tried quitting! Yay I am at day 8! Wow! I got in my girlfriends care today... It stunk of filthy cigarettes. All weekend I craved a beer and a smoke so tnite I didn't take the anti nausea tablets so the champix would make me feel Sick instead of these hard core cravings I was having!!!!

Guess what guys.... I WON. I beat the cigarette!!!  I'm an avid cyclist and walk every morning .... I can now breathe ... After just one week of quitting when I breathe in deep it doesn't stop at that point where you feel like someone is standing on your chest.... Theres more air, you smell and taste clean, and when you see someone else light up, take that breath with them and feel sorry that they haven't got the courage or belief in themselves that life is better WITHOUT nicotine. For all you ladies , all the mood swings we have.... (Men have em too, they will never admit it tho lol)  nicotine has kept our bodies tense and without  it, I advise a low carb/fat diet and good exercise .... I already notice a calmness settling in.  But  I WON.  I hate cigarettes I now have faced 8 days without nicotine I am no longer a drug addict!!! It was never about the smokes... It is always about nicotine....

Congrats to you! I know just what you mean about that wonderful, clear and fresh breathing! I am day 62 smoke free, week one and two I actually felt quite euphoric but then I seemed to balance out and that's when I first had real difficulties but managed to fight through them. I am sure you will have your ups and downs as well, but you have that wonderful positive attitude and that will get you thru it. Keep going, you can do this! All the best on your journey!
