Savings over time

I am feeling the cost of the of the nicotine replacement and I get dissillutioned because is taking me so long to cut down. Therefore I did my own calculations for each of the eighteen and a half years that I have been cutting down. According to my sums I am still spending $2,000.00 /year on cigarettes. From cutting down I have saved $100 000.00. I live in my own home. We built it. I have much to be grateful for and a way to go.

Hi PJ, Day 65 for me no smokes, I did take Champix for 40 days which I believe really helped the cravings, have you thought about that? Talk to your Doc. One of my major factors in giving up is the cost these days. I have smoked for the last 40 years at a pkt a day. My calcs have me smoking $8000 per yr. With about 90% of thast going to the Govt, I don't like that at all.
I am lucky, at home no-one smokes, my wife gave up 5 yrs ago and is very supportive of me in my quest.
But the major factor for me is that I don't want to smoke any more.
You will get over cravings, talk to your Doc about them. The journey is a tough one but you and only you can do it.
Good luck PJ.
Go do it girl.

Hello- Just read your post about nicotine replacement and how tough it's been for you. The thing about nic re is that as long as you keep chewing the gum or whatever you will NEVER break the addiction to nicotine and at some point that has to happen to be free of tobacco. Nicotine withdrawal lasts three days and then it's completely out of your system. You HAVE to commit to those three days without the gum or lozenges or anything else. Sleep through them, if you have to! Then you just have the triggers to deal with one at a time and once you've faced a trigger and stumbled through it without a cigarette, that situation will no longer be a trigger for you. Two weeks takes care of most triggers. Then it's just the really big stuff, like perhaps the death of a loved one, losing a job, or other major life events. But you'll make it through those, too. Really.
