The Beginning

It is day 1 again today after a long time between quiting attemps. I am 46 years of age and started smoking around 13/14 years of age. I have quit serval times before with the longest time being about 9 months. My down fall seem to be alcohol and the smell of smoke. However I have had enough and want to quit this time for good. That is one reason why I am here on this web site.
While in the past I have given up for better health and a longer life reasons, this time I am also using money! Not only for how much I will save but for how much I will stop giving them bastards. Last time I gave up I remember one day thinking that how different it was to go to bank and still have money in my wallet at the end of week. I really noticed the difference that time and I want that feeling back.
I am using Zyban again as find it is the only one that works well for me. I have tied the others but as i said find that Zyban keeps me claim and helps heaps with the cravings.
Anyway day 1 got the withdrawal stage to go through over the 3 - 4 days. been there done that, so I know i what i am in fore. I will do my best to keep strong, really want to kick this time for good.

Congratulations mate :)
I used the NRT route Budg. Quit last July and only this month became nico free. It is a slog mate, after 46 years smoking, I can assure you. I too have fallen (several years ago), but back again and this time wiser.
Day at a time mate, and avoid the triggers.

See my post to Hales in reasons to quit, pretty much refers to you also.
As yowie says day at a time, and use this forum if tempted before you put another $1 in your mouth. I agree with you about the cost as another reason to quit, my habit would have cost me $8000 per yr, of which I reckon $7000 would go to the Govt. I don't like the thought of that one little bit.

Thanks Yowie & Doin It, it really helps to have people around who understand. I have read your stories and they have given me inspiration. I know i still have along way to go but hay, I AM GOING TO DO IT THIS TIME! Thankyou for your support and kind messages. I wish you both continued sucess. I will off the computor for a couple of day's heading out to Werris Ck for work but will not give up, I am not going to smoke. I will update story when i get back.
