e-cigarette, my way

On the 2nd of January last I had to have my legs scanned and one condition was no smoking for 12 hours before the scan. Now there was no way I could go 1 hour between smokes let alone 12 so what was I to do?
I have always thought with me the arm action was an important part of having a smoke so I decided a pretend cigarette was the way for me to go. I went and bought myself an e-cigarette and menthol liquid with zero nicotine. All I wanted to do with this e-cig was to get through the morning until my scan. I have not had a cigarette from that day to this and not even wanted one.
I've known a few people who have tried to give up smoking with the e-cigs and I have come to the conclusion those who go zero nicotine from the word go are much more successful than those who don't and this is the way that worked for me.
We are all different and what works for one may not work for another so our Government should support all options including the e-gigs.

if you went zero nicotine what was the difference no cigarettes you could save alot of money, oh well it is good that you do not smoke tobacco.
Good job.
I'm trying the ecigs as well as I thought my smoking had a lot to do with habit ie chain smoking while on a long phonecall. So far so good.
Looked at these but decided against them because of the negative feedback, I have a friend who "smokes" these and she is just as addicted as she was to actual smoking. You might know more about them then me, it would be interesting to read what you know about them. Good job on giving up the bad stuff tobacco and nicotine etc...

Well done on getting close to the year mark! I don't think it really matters what helps us quit the addiction, the only important thing is not smoking! And I think the way you analysed what part of smoking was relevant to you is brilliant. To me it's the oral gratification, so replacing the cigarette with lozenges just made sense. Stay strong, and be proud!

Hello "By choosing life" I can understand your friend being just as addicted as she was to actual smoking and I would expect she is using an e-cigarette with nicotine liquid. She should cut down on the strength of the nicotine until she is "vaping" zero. At least she isn't inhaling all those additives the cigarette companies put into cigarettes - so good for her she is a non-smoker.
Nicotine is the addictive ingredient in cigarettes so it stands to reason e-cigarettes are just as addictive as ordinary cigarettes when using nicotine liquid.
As I said in my original post the hand to mouth part of smoking was very important to me so the e-cigarette fixed that. The other important part is that "hit in the throat" for want of a better phrase. The Menthol flavour gives you that sensation of inhaling and exhaling that you associate with smoking.
I still have my e-cigarette and I still pick it up and have a puff now and then but I know it isn't doing my any harm - it's all to do with the habit of a lifetime. I am also completely confident I will never smoke again.
Hi there Dottily, thanks for you comments. I must admit I am proud and I believe everyone who manages to kick the habit has the right to be proud of themselves.

You are right skid lite, we are all different and whatever our individual way is can be the right way.
Congratulations.
