Stop counting the days

I think the whole counting days is keeping the thought of smoking on your mind... You need to say " you know what, today I'm going to stop smoking and I'm going to move on with my life" and that's that. Stop talking about it, thinking about it and push on. So... My tip is, STOP COUNTING "how long" since you quit!!

Hi Harlzi,

Well done for quitting, and your positive attitude! For me the counting helps, makes my resolve stronger and stronger as the count climbs, whatever keeps you a non smoker is right. A very elderly gentleman where I work gave up smoking at eighty, he will be 100 years old next April! He always greets me with "you must be day ....today", and he's usually right! If for no other reason I keep track of the days to share them with my aged mentor.

Hi Harlzi.

I do get what you're saying although I think for some people being able to say "yes I went another day" and looking forward to doing that every day might be encouraging to stay quit, well I know it is for me at least :)

Hi Harlzi..I get what your saying. I think for some in the early days its good to count days. For me its gone from days to months now. I prefer to say another month down...Im hoping it will turn to years next LOOL...whatever makes you wanna make that next step then thats ok..good luck to everyone trading the same road x

what ever works for people. We are all different and what might work for me might not work for someone else. Its early days for me 4 days and this is what makes me happy every morning i look at my quitbuddy app on my iphone and see the numbers climb how much tar i have avoided, the dollars i have saved, the days im smoke free, how many cigarettes ive not smoked and the dangerous chemicals i have avoided. Good job with you quitting and the steps you have taken to get there.
