2 years and 5 months

Ive been QUIT now for 2 years and 5 months - im still glad i QUIT...but can still say again i DO NOT feel any better health wise ( dont let this put you off this is MY PERSONAL journey ), i still have sore throats all the time, still have barely no smell ( but i can still smell smoke ) or hardly any taste.I have even been to see Drs and called quitline etc and none of them can understand why i havent regained it but did say that each person's recovery is different so i probably never will feel it - im just one of the unlucky i guess but its a small price to pay...I have since had all my teeth fixed so im happy about that -most operations cant take placeunitl you have been a non smoker for sometime. I also now have 5 friends that have QUIT in the past 12 weeks...They each too have come a long way and im proud of them and give them lots of support, we bounce off eachother - i also encouraged them all to join the gym too as they gave up one by one. I at times still feel like lighting up and i let myself say it out loud but it stops there.Once i say it- it stops and the feeling passes...I wont go back.We worked out the other day that i have saved over $26,000 - i did not actually save the money but i wish i would have. I have though now started to save for a trip around the world for me and my young son. I have started to bank some of what i would have spent each weeek on smokes and already have almost $1900 (not a huge amount i know but its a start ). I do admit i love the smell still when someone is puffing away, however i think that is part of the habit too - yet i cant stand the stale smell on clothes, bodies, cars etc (but i was always like that)
I will never go back to where i was - although i personally dont feel the health benefits i do know that they are there and my body would be loving it.

Hi Yayyme, my god 2 years and 5months is amazing. I am sorry that you never regained your taste, smell etc... I have never heard of that before. Loving the idea of getting the teeth done. I hate the smell of smokes now, can't be around it, have developed a strong aversion to it. I have noticed health benefits, breathing in oxygen instead of chemicals, made a big difference on my skin, hair nails, sleep, exercising is easier and can go for longer. It is mad when you look at the money side of it how much we burned in smoke...crazy. Thank you for your post it is so good to hear from people who are far along the road,it gives hope to those behind you, who are still one day at a time , some an hour at a time. I hope I reach as far as you have ....well done awesome work.

You can and will do it ...I can tell. Good luck and keep strong. Im sorry if my post came across as negative - it wasn't meant to be and I hope I haven't put anyone off but again im writing about my journey and everyone heals and recovers differently so I was just pointing that out and hoping someone else may not have regained their smell and taste so I didn't feel the odd one lol. Yeah I seen and felt the difference with my skin and hair etc..Keep me posted on how youre doing...Go hard, stay strong :)
