Play Nice!

Hi everybody,
An iCanQuit community member has asked us to remove his profile, following negative comments about his story ‘Only WE can help us quit. Why use a drug to stop using a drug???’ and ‘I’m changing my ways without drugs’. We have now deleted some of the associated comments. There were some words of encouragement from some of you and we thank all of you who provided support. Please remember that this site is designed for smokers to support each other on their quit journey and people make different choices on how they will quit. We are always blown away from the level of support from the community and thanks to all of you who provide your stories and words of encouragement. Let’s keep it nice and try not to offend others who have made the step to share. We wish all of you the best with your quit journeys. Have a great weekend.

Sorry but this is political correctness gone mad, no one wants to see anybody fail.Hopefully he continues but I think it is fair that people can express their opinion as well moderator....

Hi everybody,
Thanks for your messages and feedback. We understand that everybody is entitled to their opinion and we want you all to feel comfortable to speak openly. For this reason, we moderate as little as possible and will always let you know when we do. On this occasion, we were contacted by a user and felt it necessary to act. Ultimately, we want this site to be as useful as possible for all of you and hope that you understand why we acted this time. We understand your comments about political correctness and apologise if through hiding comments, we have made using the site less enjoyable. We will certainly try to avoid deleting anything as much as possible in the future. We hope that your prior experiences and the benefits of having support from others throughout your quit journey will motivate you to continue sharing and supporting each other.
@oldrocka and @prettygirl, as active members of the iCanQuit community, a lot of users really benefit from your support and encouragement. We hope that from reading this message, you will decide to stay part of this community. Please email prevention@cancerinstitute.org.au to let us know how you would like to proceed from here. Whatever you decide, we congratulate you on coming so far on your quit journey and thank you for all of the comments and support that you have given to the iCanQuit community.

Moderator you really have lost touch with the quit community and it is reflected in your need to try and justify your over reaction too fair and reasonable comments. Hope this doesn't set you back oldrocka, keep strong, think positive and live your best life. God bless

Oldrocka you claim he "Made you feel like we were weaklings with no will power" Note these were your feelings, not that you are a weakling. Your comment regarding going to war again was totally inappropriate - I am unaware whether you have actually ever been in a theatre of war but being politically correct in my experience has never been a requirement. IMHO I also believe that will power is the best way to rid the body of the chemicals and toxins, and that smoking is a habit that can be broken without further chemicals and toxins - but I truely don't wish to upset your "feelings"
