Start to a New Life

its only been 2 days now after more than 20years of smoking on and off, its been okay so far, but stress and habit is making it hard. i know in a few more days it will get easier, i tried a few months ago with champix but found them after 10 days they made me terribly sick, so went back to smoking. the biggest reason for me stopping is my health, i want to be able to run around with my almost 2yo daughter, and i aslo would like to just not feel so terrible about being a smoker. I am going cold turkey again, i gave up cold turkey when i was pregnant and did it so easily, i know being pregnant was a great reason, so this time i am thinking the same kind of thing, my daughter deserves a mother who doesnt smoke.

You go CharlyGirl, I am rooting for you. I am on Champix and today is Day 17 and I was smoking almost normally up to yesterday and getting quite anxious. I have now not smoked for 12 and 1/2 hours. I know it sounds ridiculous but I am trying to feel proud of myself. I thought if I could just get past the 'wake-up' smoke, and so far I'm hanging in there. Don't know how long it will last. Wishing you the best!!

LOL it should read START to a new life..lol..Congrats for getting this far with champix I couldn't go past 10 days too sick..but so far almost on my complete second day, its tough mainly when having coffee so ive cut back on that, a if I feel the need I come on here..good luck to you too.

Yeah - I got the START - maybe a freudian slip - anybody who can give up smoking is a STAR. I feel like a failure having gone past my Quit Date (on Champix) but have decided today is the day - after 40 a day for 35 years. I'm also nervous about my wine this afternoon, but will try real hard. Holding thumbs for us both. We can do this journey together - I know I need all the help I can get. I'm here - just shout.

I would say leighdo, don't drink the wine..drink something else, or try and wait as long as you can, coffee for me atm is a temptation, Ive cut back and also cut the sugar out.

sorry to hear about you op going bad..but great news your not smoking, I would love my mum to give up but she said today too late for me, but then she complains about the cost..grrr. but my experience you cant push people you have to do this in your own time.

im waiting for the 3 week mark, if you can get past 21 days without smoking then your doing GREAT and well on your way of never being tempted again.

Hi CharlyGirl, I cant take Champix for medical reasons and have always gone cold turkey. I found the fitness component a great motivator. When I stopped for three months in September 2012 I started training to run 5K. Have a look at 5K runner on your iphone.

I don't have an iphone sold it hated it..lol..Ive joined a gym about a month ago, my aim is to loose 40kgs in 12months before I turn 40..slowly getting there its only been about a month, hard work as well.

good on you, just think about how much of a role model you are to your son, keep at it, be strong and know you can do this, and its okay if you have set backs, gosh we all have them in some way..never give up on giving up.
