So many first times

I am day 3 without smoking and there are so many firsts! First morning without a wake-up smoke, first meal, first glass of wine, first long drive, first day at work...... Man - I wish at least all my 'first days' were over - it is so hard.

Well done leighdo13,
Yeap Im hearing you, I have given up smoking that many times i loose count.
This is day one for me, I honestly hope this is the last time i 'give up"!!!
so well done, your on the right track

you have to try and not think about it, think about all the other things going on? easy said than done maybe, but I don't look it like that, I see it as I just don't smoke anymore and I don't need to smoke to make me feel good, I even gave myself a reward and brought myself a dvd that I have been wanting, so instead of spending money on disgusting smokes I brought a dvd.

Hey leighdo13 - I read what your concerns were on my story. I certainly didn't mean to put you off or anything. You can be absolutely sure it does get easier. I get up and have my normal tea and coffee and never even think about a ciggie. However even after 6 weeks there are certain triggers that make me want a smoke, but only a few times a day. For some strange reason for me it's late at night or if I wake up at 3am that I want to smoke, but I don't. It is NOT now the constant struggle throughout the day that it was at the start. It is gradual that the cravings diminish and you'll need a little patience. There can still be the odd bad day. A lot of it is just thinking Oh I've finished that, time to sit down and have a smoke - Oh yeah I don't do that anymore. Not really a craving, just a reaction out of habit, but it's still there. Hope this allays some of your misgivings. keep doing what you're doing and it starts to improve. All the best.
