Easy way to stop smoking by Alan Carr

Read Alan Carr's "Easy way to stop smoking". I smoked for four years. I read it and quit. If you understand the book, it's impossible to want to smoke.

Will power is not required. When I signed up to this website I was asked if quiting caused "depression, stress, mood swings, craving" etc. Well it didn't/doesn't/can't. All it does is make you happier (and richer). People who quit don't suffer withdrawal pangs, smokers do! All day! Every second they aren't smoking! It's a half life. Once I had spotted the withdrawal symptoms, I realised how they were affecting my mood (e.g. panicking when I realise I can't smoke at a pub or train station) and my diet (I never felt satisfied and kept eating and eating until I had a smoke). There were two ways to stop the feeling. Smoke a cigarette which will stop it for half an hour or wait for a couple of days and stop it forever. An easy decision. I haven't smoked since. Why would I? Honestly, I couldn't bring myself to have another. I never envy smokers, I only pity them. Read the book!Ben

Well done on you quit Ben... Even if you smoked for 4 years you were still addicted to those nasty things. mind you i've been smoking for 25+ years and am now quit day 22 and it has been easier than i thought BUT not easy. the withdrawals are on thing a life time pattern is another. Just saying....

I read the book too. I smoked for 26 years and have not smoked for 222 days - stopped the day I finished the book. Good on you Ben.

It's not that it was easy, it was just inevitable. I couldn't bring myself to have another. But it was easy if I think about it. All I had to do was not smoke! The author of the book chain smoked a hundred a day for 33 years and easily quit cold turkey after some realisations. If your sick of going through life envying smokers and feeling deprived of your crutch, read it. Can't hurt!
