Champix and how it worked for me

Hey people,
I was a 40-50 a day smoker for 18 years.
When I started champix I was told to set a quit date sometime within the second week, I set my date and as the days rolled on and the date got closer I really started feeling the pressure of having to quit on that date, well 1 day before the quit date I knew I wasn't going to quit suceesfully and the stress really got to me so I tried a different approach.
I noticed I had cut down without knowing it over the first week and a half from 40-50 a day to around 20 a day so decided to not set a quit date and just see how I go cutting down to quit while still taking champix. By the end of week 4 I was down to 3 cigarettes for the day with no cravings, I was even putting out cigarettes after 1 or 2 drags just because I didnt want it. By this time I knew I didn't need them anymore and threw the last 20 ciggies in the bin.
Over the following week I had maybe 3 craving which lasted about 20 seconds and have had no more since then. I have had no problems being around other smokers and have definately stopped for good.
Goodluck to everyone on the journey or thinking of taking that big step.

Well done Bluenaite! your story inspires me to keep smokefree. I am on champix heading into my fifth week. Take carexx

im on champix for the second time now ive noticed this time its working but cant take the night ones as it makes me very sick for some reason at night is that normal with champix but am 4 going on 5 days no smokes

Thanks Leesa, you are going very well, 5 weeks is a great accomplishment.
Hi amyleelemon,
The only time I actually felt a bit sick was when I took champix on an empty stomach but it wasn't anything extreme and only happened once. Have you tried taking it straight after eating?
One of the side effects is nausea but will affect different people in different ways. I have known people that can't take it at all because they get crippling migrains from it and other people that had really bad nightmares. Just depends on the person to which side effects they get if any at all.
Keep up the good work and it gets so much easier after the first week is over.
