A new horizon

Today is my 112th day as a non smoker and today I started a new phase in my quit journey and in my life generally. Quitting the smokes has had the effect of waking much earlier than I used to. So I am putting that extra time to good use and going to the gym before work. Today was my first day, getting up at 5:30am, 1 hour drive to the gym has me working out by 6:30am for an hour. Then shower and dress and at work by 8am. This morning I did 60 sit ups, 60 bench presses, 60 bi-cep curls, 30 leg curls, 60 squats and 5km on the bike. And I feel fantastic. Wouldn't be smokin for quids.

Good on ya MickeyJ. You're really committed to travel for an hour, then work out for an hour. I should start back at walking. I used to walk for an hour every morning. It does something for your head doesn't it. Those little endorphins, natures high!!

Yay, go MickeyJ! Great effort and isn't it nice to be using all that time we used to be tucked around the corner smoking on something that will help us feel and look GOOD and give us more time with our loved ones.
Let us know how those muscles are feeling tomorrow :)

Hi MickeyJ, you have done so well. I remember getting on here a couple of weeks back and you were at day 50 something ..you have come so far. I've fallen off the wagon ... and in seem to be smoking more than ever. This was my first attempt to quit. I'm starting to think about trying again and another quit date etc ... so you have definitely inspired me. Fantastic work!!

Well done Mickey!
I have also turned into a gym junkie. Can't get enough of it and its such a great feeling getting these abused unhealthy bodies into peak shape.
Honestly couldnt think of anything worse than smoking, these days. They are so unbelievabley damaging, they are negative, posionous revolting things, and I cant believe that once upon a time they were so important to us all. Crazy.
So welcome new life.Welcome healthy life :)

Hi Breanna, thanks for your support. My daughters tried to get me to stop smokiing for years. They even held little protest rallies at the cigarette counter of Woolworths whenever I stopped there to buy some. Don't be too hard on your dad. Smoking is one of the hardest things to overcome and most times, it is only the smoker who can give up when they're ready, no matter how much the people who love them try to help. Just love your dad Breanna and good luck with your project.

Good stuff Mickey you have been inspiring me too! hope I go as well !! Day 15 for me I have a long way to go, it can only get easier I hope
