Why do I do this to myself?

I'm on day 8 today, I've been on day 8 many times. The longest I had been without was 2 years. I started taking my mums smokes when I was 9 and started buying my own when I was 11 and in high school. I wish I could gather up all the times I said "why did I light this" and all the times I said "eww that's yuck" and put it out. If I was able to remember the exact trail of thought that lead me to say to myself "I need to quit". I think about these things constantly when I have smoked and as soon as I quit it's like they have disappeared from my brain all together. I can't get to that thought that was strong and reassuring and full of confidence. . I suppose that's part of the plan, mind games. If not for the cravings this would be easy! Each day is a victory.
it's good to know there are others out there going through what I'm going through now. We can do it!

Well done deadrocks, the addiction part of smoking is terrible. You will get through it though just keep on keeping on.
Hey Deadrocks :-)
Completely agree with you!! Giving up smoking is one of the hardest things i have done in a long time..
Something i found that helped me get through those dark days of not seeing all the reasons that i gave up smoking in the first place was to write them down.. I wrote down every reason why i wanted to give up smoking and left it easily accessible so that when i was having a really hard time i would read it over and over again. I found it really helped me and kept me positive about the whole situation :-)
Each day is a victory and you need to relish in your successes - be proud of yourself!! Every night i would tell myself how awesome i was for getting through ANOTHER day (did i mention i am a little crazy).. Lol
Well a huge congrats to you for getting to where you are, we all know its not easy!! You are a champ and you can do this!!! xxx
