hi everyone,i have a simple but vital reason to quit....my life. i recently suffered a major heart attack at 35 yrs of age, most people have 60% use of thier heart, i now have 35%, i was a chronic smoker, a packet per day+ and always thought "yeah i'll quit when i'm 40 or so. i quit the day of the heart attack and have not had even a puff since, yes i'm using patches but still have quit. i'm doing this as i owe it to my kids, my patner and my family and should have taken this step years ago, or should i say never have started at all!! i am optimistic about my future and have some goals set, long and short term. if anything good comes out of this i want to encourage people to live a healthier life and get checked out regularly. i eventualy want to do boot camp training that is just a fitness course, that is my long term goal as well as be able to work and live a normal life again.

Hi Daniel51 your storie brought tears to my eyes so so young for a heart attack, great to hear you are on the mend its terrible when a scare has to happen to make us realise how bad smoking is.Ive been smoke free for just over 5 weeks now thanks to the patches i feel great still get the craving for a smoke but i just ignore it, my new smokes are cheaper and good for me Cherries and Grapes they take my cravings away.I wish u a speedy recovery and u will reach your goals.Remember there is plenty of support here for you. All the best

Absolutely agree with 12 months done, I would recommend that anyone who is new to this site, go back and read as many old posts as they can and you'll see that we all suffered and that we're all in a different place now, it's weird because you can actually see the future, you can see the benchmarks, you'll be prepared to deal with the highs and the lows because somebody else who posted on here has already done it, that's how valuable this site really is to anyone's quit attempt.

Good luck my friend and let's hope that you live a long and productive life.
