One Year completed

Dear All,
Today I have completed one whole year without smoking and drinking. I smoked 1 pack a day for 19 years and was a regular alcohol drinker for 12 years. I stopped smoking using nicotine gums/patches but I'm still addicted to nicotine patches, which doesn't bother me because I feel I have stopped something which I used to do for almost 20years, so patches/gums is something which I can quit soon. Just to let you know I have not relapsed or had a single puff or drink in the last one year. I gained around 10kgs in weight. I will be happy if anyone needs my help because I feel its really very very difficult to STAY QUIT...Quiting is not that difficult but remaining sober and smoke free is difficult.

Congratulations. Well done. That is fantastic. I am up to day 26 and you inspire me to keep going.
Wow a whole year of no fags or a drink - what an amazing achievement!! Give yourself one big pat on the back!!
Can't wait till the day I can say a whole year, it's only 355 days away..lol

Hi orangina, Nice to hear back from you but trust me I have good faith that you would soon quit both smoking and drinking. Let me share what I did to stay motivated.
1.) Purchased the Audio Book - the easy way to stop smoking by allen carr and used to listen to it when ever I needed motivation and that really helped me a lot.
2.) I tried some MP3 hypnosis tracks (It costs around $8-10) and they also gave me motivation
3.) The money which I saved I started doing small weekly online shopping from ASOS.
4.) I started running/walking every day but quit this habit after 3months because of lack of motivation
5.) For drinking I used to listen to the audiobook alcoholic anonymous big book.
6.) Also I did not STOP USING THE PATCHES BECAUSE I KNEW IT IS VERY EASY TO RELAPSE SO I THOUGHT I WOULD GIVE A SOLID 1-1.5YRS TO BE SMOKE/DRINK FREE AND THEN THINK ABOUT GETTING AWAY FROM PATCHES. BETTER TO RELAPSE ON PATCHES THAN CIGARATTES.
I strongly suggest you to read the audiobooks because they are very very helpful and I have full trust and faith that you would quit

my drug and alcohol counsellor suggested I give up both at the same time as one is dependent on the other for me. dont want a drink if I havent got a smoke and vice versa. So here Iam day3 lookin for inspiration and found you!
