Electronic Cigarettes

Look into electronic cigaretes, I'm not sure this will stay up here but i quit so easily with these things and never looked back after 18 years smoking and trying to quit at least once a year. i still use the electronic cigarettes but feel 100% fit healthy and never out of breath. I order them from overseas and use them. They have saved my life. Do not buy the expensive ones the cheap ones are fine from places online like heavensgifts and or even batter cheaper if you know what to buy vaporhawk. I totally recommend it. 2 weeks of slight withdrawal from the tobacco toxins and full tast back after i guess about 6-8 months. I still feel better and better every day.

Yeah I'm over the tobacco flavors. I think it's important to note that the liquid contains nicotine if you order it with it. Aussie vendors are fine but very expensive. If you have to import the liquid then you might as well save on the e-cig stuff also. I recommend people do their own research on it. The nicotine is often derived from potatoes these days. And the other ingredience in the fluid is basically glycerine similar but not the same as what is used in many foods today to retain moisture. So if you think i am smoking there is no smoke involved. Just the appearance of it. It replicates smoking habit without in hailing the tar and 100 of awful chemicals. Saying I am still a smoker is like telling a gambling addict that playing poker with match sticks for the rest of their lives is ruining their lives. The habit is there but the detrimental effects of inhaling the tar is not.
I understand why they are banned for retail in Australia, but there really should be some studies into them.
I read an article about the UK government think tank that states they think they may have mad a big mistake banning it.
I think if you have tried the other methods like cold turkey and cutting down and patches then you must try e-cigs. Just my opinion. It's the only thing that worked for me.

By the way, people that are taking pills meant for other things that had side effects of people quitting smoking. Like ziaban (spelling) or whatever. Be careful about that stuff. It was meant for other things. Beta blockers are un-charted in the long term. (so are e-cigs but at least we can find out what is in them and see they have been in use for many years with no real detrimental side effects) My close relative is a harvad prof and he does not trust these billion dollar pharma companies, and half the time he ends up working for them. Stock brokers and warlords in lab coats he calls them. Sorry for the rant - but we all know it is true. They put a warning on the label so they can be immune. look at asbestos cigarettes and thalidomide. Change your name or business address and you become immune to prosecution.
Gosh i sound like a conspiracy theorist now. Will shut up now. HAHA

Go easy doc.. but i'm with you, apart from these things looking completely ridiculous and if there is NO nicotine in them, you may be omitting the nicotine, however your still a wandering addict...
I think you may be missing the point IQUIT
Make no mistake, the aim is to quell the habit, the chemicals (drug) that hook you just so happen to be a bi product that KILL!
But if your sure IQUIT that there is no nicotine in these things, then the doc is right, now you just have the habit, but at least it's a start.
Good luck

Thanks rocky - Yes, Essentially I have replaced one habit with another. But to say I am still smoking when there is no smoke is naive. Oh and there is nicotine in the ones I use. I have reduced to the lowest level. I also know a guy who is a sales rep at work that has been using nicorette gum for years. He is not no longer a smoker, just a nicotine addict. Any way, it's all semantics. Good luck to all Quitters out there. And remember "no one likes a Quitter." Um.. That's the only quitting catchphrase I know. But seriously, Good luck to all, no matter what method you choose.

Hello I have just joined up here, I actually got my Zyban on the 16th November 2011, and started them, half heartedly then stopped taking them I think it was the wrong time for me as my Dad paased away on the 30th Sept, a week later my Mum went into hospital for 3 weeks very sick, then just before she came out Dad's little dog passed away on the 28th Oct 2011, and I was looking after him. I have always had the chest x rays and they have always been clear, this last one wasn't any different and I have been smoking since I was 15 years old, anyway I have set my goal for tomorrow. I have had several attempts, but this is the first time I am actually wanting to do this without pressure. Sorry to bore you with all these details.

Someone I know uses the E-Fag or whatever it's called and it does have nicotine in it, so you're not really quitting anything and it looks ridiculous. If you're going to stop smoking... DO IT don't substitute it for the same thing.
