Aged Care EX-smoker

Posted in Hints and tips
schedule 8 Jan 2012

I work in Aged Care and one of the triggers that I had was when i went on a morning tea or lunch break with my work mates, most of them (being friends outside of work as well) also smoke and we all went downstairs for a cigarette on each break. Now I actually just go and sit in the lunch room while my workmates go downstairs. Also instead of waking up at a particular time of a morning and going to work i actually get to sleep in for a little longer before going to work (that way i am not sitting downstairs with the smokers).

While I am at home some of the ways that i get my mind of smoking and get past the cravings are as follows:

- go for a walk

- read a book

- do a crossword

at the moment I am reading a self help book Allen Carr's "Easy Way to Stop Smoking". This book is making me understand why i smoke and how to stop.
