Just Saying Hello
Hi All
I just thought I would drop you a line and say how proud I am of you all. To my long standing fellow quitters, we are doing great. Tiger, JoC, Rocky rush, Blusuzi, Kathyrose and everyone. Well and truly into the double figures world now. In fact a lot fo you are into double months or about to be. Day 50 is looming for me, and I cannot wait. Come on Saturday. Half a tonne - at the outset I could not even think about 50 minutes let alone 50 days.
And to the newer quitters on here, Meanie, Rhys, Rosiek and everyone how well are you all doing and how fantastic to hear about you winnong over weekends where temptation is in your way. Great stuff.
I had a Saturday night where there were more smokers than non (first time that has happened since I quit) and it didn't bother me at all. I just sat and talked and drank etc. Admitedly I did have to stop myself ordering a second pizza as a snack - but hey, one thing at a time.
I got home and as I had left my partner out to continue partying the strangest thought crossed my mind. I decided I could have just one - and I knew that from when I stopped there was half a packet in the bottom kitchen drawer. Just one my head said, nobody will know it went on. Go on you know you want too!
Fancy that happening after 43 days, guess what I did? I stood up, picked up the packet that has been in the bottom kitchen drawer since the end of September and I tossed them in the bin and off I went to bed as happy as can be.
Whe I woke up on Sunday morning (with a slightly heavy head - who said hangovers are not as bad?) i was so grateful that I had stuck to my guns and not given into the 'naughty' voice. I know I have this smoking thing licked because I know how strong my resolve now is.
But, you all need to know that no matter how many days, months etc. Once a smoker always a smoker that has quit and never ever, not even for a puff let the naughty voice win.
Now, if any of you have any tips for shifting weight fast (that is legal and prefereably allows me to eat and not exercise) I would be most grateful :)
Actually I have started that task now also. Instead of the bus every afternoon, I am walking the 3.8km's 3 afternoon's a week. Well that is the plan. Only started last week on Friday (so that was only one day) and as it was Friday it seemed logical to stop at 2 pubs on the way. Must not do that on a Monday or Wednesday.
Have a good non smoking week all.

Omg Im so so Proud of you!! I cant express how totally awesome that was for you to throw the pack in the bin and admit you dont need them anymore! I to myself realised that I can never be a just social or just one puff smoker and it felt great that I had made the choice! You need to post everyday because honestly I have a major chuckle everytime you do! You walking home sounds like me walking the dog with the path being via the pub and YES I would like the losing weight tip that allows me still to eat and no exercise. Went out also on the weekend with my brother who I would useually pop out after lunch and have a smoke but instead he went outside and I stuffed my face with fried icecream lol!!!!!

Now look who's writing the weekly inspiration. You sound pretty relaxed & enjoying yourself. So so so different from the beginning. You're so cheeky it's great. Keep up the fabulous work Winner.

I need the tips for loosing weight also. Summer is about to hit and i'm feeling like a beached whale.
Well done for staying so strong. I'm also getting the voices that say just one won't hurt.I know it will hurt and i'm about to hit the one month mark i don't want to ruin it.

Shift weight fast without exercise... that's easy..... chop off a limb!
Glad to hear that everyone survived the weekend relatively unscathed, hangovers may still be just as uncomfortable Winner but they don't taste anywhere near as bad, there's some consolation in that.
There ya go I've officially run out of things to say already........... thousand yard stare goin' on, must be time to eat something!
Take care all

great inspiring words....I faced that voice in my head last weekend and caved in....however I know that alcohol really weakens my resolve so this weekend stayed well clear of smokers and alcohol...just until I feel strong enough to not listen to that little smoking devil that exists within me !!! Tips for losing weight unfortunately mostly involve exercise...try hot lemon juice in the morning as soon as you get up...it stimulates your metabolism and also cleanses the liver (great for getting those old smokers toxins out). Avoid carbs (bread, pasta, potatoe chips) try eating brown rice and vege for a week and then slowly introduce some carbs back in. When I feel like a fag I make a vege juice and drink loads of water instead....I am feeling super fab already (two weeks quit with one slip of a few hours)....
