Day 24 - the first month mark is looming
Well who would have thought I would get this far? I am certainly surprised (very pleasantly) and am now so committed to not going back I am starting to relax a little. Of course my mind still tricks me into thinking I want one, or just one, or just for this particular ocassion. But it is getting easier. And to think, when people said to me it will get eaiser I was thinking to myself yeah sure it gets easier.
What is annoying however, is I am not feeling well - I have a runny nose, a REALLY sore throat and am just a bit blah - in fact I have not felt 'healthier' since stopping. And I really must start watching my food intake and the type of food - that starts today. :) Actually already started with 2 weetbix for breakfast and nothing else.
Very PROUD of self, over weekend drove down the coast to see my dad (who is much improved, but still has a long way to go). So Friday night stuck in Sydney traffic for hours and hours trying to get through the Southern Suburbs and past Waterfall was a nightmate and took ages and I did think I wanted a smoke, but instead I had my trusty water and when I saw people smoking stuck in traffic I thought, well - that car must stink!
Then spent the night at my sisters and saw my niece and nephews and brother in law. BBQ, drinks and no smokes and we sat outside the whole time - EXCELLENT work Winner! I was a bit fidgety though and seemed to be up and down from the table and sometimes I do wonder if I will ever fully relax again. Sure that too will come in time.
I am hoping you are all doing well and staying on the path to non smoking. I just want to not feel sick and I will be happier than Larry - whoever Larry is!
Tiger, dad is going in the right direction now. Chardiologist visit today and when I was there on the weekend for the first time I thought you actually are starting to look better! So all good - thank you so much for asking. Surely the rest of this non smoking journey HAS to be easier than when he was in ICU and then having to have his heart stopped and re-started etc. Still it was how he looked post surgery in ICU that was the clincher in making me stop - so I guess everything does happen for a reason :)
