I don't want to

I use the phrase "I don't want to smoke".  I used to use "I want" or "I should" or something similar and this never seems to work. "I want to lose weight" "I want to get healthy" are just empty statements that hardly ever lead to change....for me anyway. I have worked out, however that when I DON'T want to do something, then I don't..unless I have to that is...like go to work or something. So, you just say "I don't want to be fat" or "I don't want to sit on the couch and vege out all day". To give up smoking you say "I DON'T WANT TO SMOKE!" like a tantrum thing...works a treat for me. Good Luck
