Avoiding boredom by going to the gym

I find exercise is a great way to resist temptation. Boredom is one of my big triggers, so if ever I find myself wondering 'what to do do' I'll try and drag myself off for some exercise instead.
First thing is good too - by forcing myself to go to the gym in the morning, I put off the initial cravings - plus, after those times where I may have overdone it the night before, its a great reminder of the physical effects that smoking has. It keeps it all fairly immediate.

Great idea Ononomad. Exercise has many benefits in the 'quitting' process, from reducing stress, to feeling positive about yourself.
I also found that if I couldn't get to the gym, I would do simple exercises such as stretching, going for a 5 min walk around the office or a half hr walk during my lunch break.
Even the simplest movements are a definite must for quitting.
