Today was supposed to be day 1, going cold turkey but I failed...

I have stage 4 endometriosis and adenomyosis and I am a single mum to 5 year old twin boys with no support...

I had tried champix about 6 months ago but it put me into a mass depression, I already have depression and anxiety with PTSD which I am medicated for but this experience was absolutely awful...

I need to do this for my health, my finances and my boys and honestly I am just over smoking, I am 38 and have been smoking for 25 years which should be reason enough...

I purchased a quit it inhaler but I was in a lot of pain with my endometriosis today and quickly gave in to my cravings a handful of times...

I am scared I am not strong enough to achieve this but in my heart I want to quit so badly...

Please help with any advice and or encouragement because God knows I need itπŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸš

Thank you for sharing @Miss Lea! You’re dealing with so much right now. I don't think that giving in during a painful day means you’re not strong enough, I think it means you’re human. The fact that you want to quit for you and your boys really matters. You haven’t failed, and you haven’t given up. If you feel up for it, I really recommend one of our Quitline counsellors who can provide you with some tailored support especially about inhalers and NRT - call 13 7848 and tell them you were recommended from iCanQuit. If not we're always here to help too.

I feel your pain Miss Lea. I too have been struggling. 1 day I'm up next day can't cope. But I've been walking a lot and doing things with my grandkids to try and keep my mind off it. I find if I rest I want to smoke badly but I think it's more from boredom with nothing else to do. So I try to keep as busy as I can. Though I don't officially start my new quit date til July I am seriously trying to cut back & Chang habits I've had for over 45 years. I have Ben signed up to Kure app for meditation which helps to. I wish you all the best & can only suggest deep breathing & drink lots of water when the cravings hit but try to focus your mind elsewhere.

You are stronger than you think.  I am sure that we alll started out with doubt and trepidation.   I doubt that many succeed on their first quit.  The difference is really wanting to quit. I am sorry that Champix  did not agree with you, but thankful that you were smart enough to stop taking it when it affected you adversely.

Read our posts and learn about you and the addiction.   Find the determination, useful suggestions and the belief in yourself to make the quit permanent.  Read Allen Carr who helped many quit even while reading his book.

You can do this.   You are here!
