I honestly struggle to quit the harder I try. It's almost like if I tell myself I can't have one I want to rebel against it. So I am now trying to stop telling myself no and just telling myself to wait just a little longer. Don't know if it will work but im going to give it a go. Today is my first day also so don't know what will work and what won't yet.

Yes, quitting smoking is a mind game.

Before you pick one up ask yourself why you even want it?

Ask yourself what would it solve?

Ask yourself if you would be happy or just disappointed in yourself.

Tell yourself that you have a choice.

I and many others keep cigarettes out of sight but on hand knowing that we are not going to panic because what if we really need one at 2 a.m. We make it a choice. We are adults and no one tells us what we can and cannot do.

No one can control us, yet we let cigarettes. So show those sticks who really rules!

Choose Freedom.

Hi MaddyB. I haven't been back to the site for ages. I am up to 7 years 7 months quit. Wish you could quit the way I did. I decided it was Maggie Thatcher telling me to light up. Every time I felt the urge, I knew it was her telling me to do so. So many expletives uttered by me in those early days and weeks and some months. She even tried to get me to celebrate after some successes. Relentless, she was. She even had me dreaming I was chain smoking and I would wake up wondering if to really had happened. Anyhow, it worked for me and a/c this site I have saved $88035. That is a lot of ash...
