Monday 07-11-22 I QUIT!

Posted in Getting started
schedule 10 Jul 2022

I’ve been smoking since I was 16 years old and I just turned 54. It is something I’ve wanted to do for years but never tried. I did stop during my pregnancies but would pick them back up after. I work in a job that doesn’t allow smoking at work. So I go about 12 hours without smoking daily. As soon as I get home, I light up until bedtime and then smoke every morning. I live alone so I know I need support. I’ve been reading all the stories and trying to get ideas of how to quit. I do think I’m going to start by putting the money I spend ($80 a carton) every two weeks into savings. I am ordering a jump rope so I can jump rope instead of smoke. I think I may also order some color pencils and coloring books to help also. I am worried that I can’t do it but I desire to try for my health and financial reasons! Please say a prayer that I can do this!

Good on you for making your decision to quit. You sound determined too.

Cigarettes in Australia are about $30 for 20 cigs so I don’t know how much a carton would be!

It took me many tries but I finally got there and I know I will never smoke again.

The trick is to keep occupied with other things so you are doing the right things eg with colouring in. I also started gardening and it lovely to watch things grow that you have planted. Even a few pots would be good for you.

Good luck and stay with it because you won’t regret it at all. So many benefits and no down sides to it.

Wow! 30 per pack! It’s like close to 8 per pack here! I definitely need to quit because I couldn’t pay 30. I’m barely can afford 8! Thanks for the encouragement! I have one pack left I’m finishing today and tomorrow I become a non-smoker! I pray I make it this week with not smoking! If I can make it for a month I think I’ll be alright! I hope!
