24 Days

schedule 14 Mar 2022

New to the forum. I'm 24 days cigarette free after 24ish years of smoking. Thinking back it seems rediculous that I started smoking to appear cool at school amongst my peers. I have tried to quit many times, my longest being 61 days about 7 years ago. Every other attempt has been 1-3days before caving. My short term goal is day by day until I beat my personal best..long term goal is to never smoke again. It feels different this time. Less of a battle as I had spent many months changing my mind about smoking before I quit. While I still deal with temptation having a changed mindset has helped tremendously. I have also been using lozenges to help the physical aspect. On day 10 I bought 8 packs of lozenges, 2mg, on sale and when they are finished I will stop using them also. I have about 3-4 a day and have 6 packs left. Anyway, that's my journey summed up for now. :D

Hi there. Keep the hope, faith and love yourself.

I hope that while you are new to the forum, that you have been with us for a while in the background. A forum made all the difference for me, and of the the vast amount of information available these days through the internet.

We have been brainwashed and made to feel weak in comparison to the power of nicotine, and yet millions do quit smoking. I never thought that I could until I witnessed others do so , and gain the belief that there was no reason why I could not too.

Welcome and please read and gain your confidence and change how you have thought and felt about smoking for many years. I think that most people are afraid to try, afraid they might fail or enjoy life without the cigarette. I started in my early teens and had no idea what I was missing as a non-smoker. I too wanted to fit in with my peers. How many times have we wished we had never started!

There is nothing to fear and everthing to gain as a non-smoker Life is great. The freedom is wonderful. Would you let anyone else boss you around like nicotine does? Think about it and see just how much it rules and takes . Make up you mind and the battle is won!

Please don't look to beat your longest run, but to make the change you want and deserve for the rest of your life. One day at a time, and never give up! It is so worth it and you will never regret it.
