Hello everyone. My story with smoking. I started very young and gave up smoking at 21. Was married for 23 yrs then hubby left married again to a smoker I began to smoke after a couple of years. 7 yrs later fled DV and 1 year after I was able to give up smoking which lasted around 1 year. I'm devastated to have started again. I've been struggling with PTSD . I love the story CLOSE SHAVE and the tip to write down all the reasons why they quit because this is my struggle to begin stopping. I can not remember what gave me the strength last time . It was through a very difficult time but it must have been something very important to have given me the strength. I would love some tips if anyone has suggestions that help toward the big decision. Thank you 😊

There are so many tips and great stories here on IcanQuit, so I think that you have made a great difference to your quit already.
I found a forum very helpful, as it gave me insight and inspiration. Most of all it gave me the courage to believe in myself. I had never dreamed that I could quit smoking after 40 years. Of course, like most I tried in the early years, but didn't understand then what a craving was or why. I just knew I did not want to life the rest of my life "craving".
Of course , you know that is not true. They end quickly when we don't let those "thoughts" obliviate everything else. We seldom get a thought of smoking after a time, and although a smell might instill an old memory after years, that is all it is .....a memory.
It is the memory that it good, the cigarette was a tag-a-long.
Welcome to our forum and read, read, read. Learn for knowledge is power and we can beat nicotine. But you know that, you have done that. It is the mindset that needs worked on....but I think you are a quick learner.
