Struggle

Hey quitfam! Wanting to start my quit journey tomorrow, give up date of the 17th of September. Have tried to quit many times but have found it difficult to occupy myself in other ways.. really quite silly as I have children yet still don’t have the proper willpower to quit along with bad chest pains.

Hello Cw1998 and welcome. Robn gave excellent recommendations, I cannot top her suggestions. I am on day 28 so I am very familiar what you are going through. All I can say is stay very close to this site. Read from it DAILY and use the search tool for specific concerns. There are seasoned non-smokers on this site that provide valuable information. I have learned a lot personally just from this site alone. Maybe try to cut down between now and your quit date (that's what I did). In any event, welcome and thank you for sharing. I hope to hear more about your journey in the near future. There is nothing special about all of us. If we can do it YOU can do it!!! Best,...

Willpower is not needed when you WANT to do something. It is FEAR that holds you back. FEAR that occupies your mind when you even think of quitting smoking. FEAR of the unknown has us quit before we really start. Now think of that fear as our acronym FORGET EXCUSES/ACCEPT REALITY. Make up your mind and the body will follow. Think positive and BELIEVE that you can do this and you will! There is no hoping, or wishing or bargaining here, it is up to you and how you think of smoking will determine just how easy or hard it will be. So read, learn, breathe, drink water, text a friend, and find ways to fill those little voids. Treat yourself with the savings. You deserve it. We rewarded ourselves with a smoke before and after everything we did. It ruled!
CHOOSE FREEDOM. Choose LIFE!
No willpower needed when you have made up your mind. No reason to continue smoking. Break the addiction cycle which is well worth any discomforts along the way. Look to the future. I will guarantee that it will be better and you would never choose to return to smoking.

Will power was not the answer for me either Cwl, but I have the power and the will to succeed is a better approach, when we mention Will power it can create a negativity within ourselves, and that is the last thing we need.
We all need a positive thought and actions will then follow. You have so many reasons to quit so write them all down and choose a top one to start with. NOPE (not one puff ever) another great positive Mantra that really works.
