Finally decided to Quit.
I finally decided to quit after smoking for 17 years. I last brought a pack of cigarettes in. April 2021 and after that pack was over - the shopkeeper asked me to try one of those disposable vapes (iget) that are available in the market. I started vapes and did not it a pack of cigarettes till today. My recent visit to my GP prescribed me Champix. I started on Champix yesterday and I hope I stay strong and quit these vapes all together. I will look forward for help for my fellow quitters to stay strong.
Welcome, and let me assure you that everyone on this website are with you in the process of being smoke free. I was on Champix, after a few repeat quits, but I think this forum contributes to your feeling of togetherness, because we need friends of value, not friends that take you down the garden path to nowhere.
Champix alters the brain receptors, makes it easier to begin with, but I could only take half a dose, it still worked. While you are on these, you need to research, the addictive part of that cigarette "Nicotine" and get your own receptors to work in the way, that brings you ultimate success, which in turn brings you much happiness and joy.
The Mantra NOPE (not one puff ever) worked for me, after 35 years of smoking you can adopt this, or find another. I am glad you are getting monitored by your health professional, as this aid is not for everyone, in saying that it is much better than vaping which is not recommended in Australia.
I am in Regional Australia, so I am thinking of you in the current Covid situation, keep safe and stay strong.
Dear Softly40 - Thanks for the Mantra - its a great one that I can adopt. Today was my second day on Champix. I kept vaping to the least today. lets see how strong I am in the coming days.
I too am on Champix and found that there is a shortage of the continuation packs. Tried ringing 35 chenists around the Central Coast without any luck. Was informed that none would be available till atleast September. Finally found an online chemist in Victoria who had 2 packs left and am waiting for my order to arrive.In the meantime I am only taking a morning dose only till they arrive
It may pay you to start looking around now to get your repeat filled. Good luck
