I am trying Champix to help me quit my smoking habit of 26yrs.

I am on day 14, I have noticed that I am not enjoying the cigarette and only smoke half of one. My set date to stop smoking is tomorrow, so fingers crossed I can go the day without it.

I do feel that I am hungry more, this could be due to the fact I am actually eating something for breakfast now -if I don't I am sick.

So I actually get hungry more often now during the day.

I have quit drinking alcohol also and am 10 days sober. I felt that if I am not drinking it will be easier to quit smoking.

I have had very strange dreams since taking the Champix and some are not very nice, other than that I have no other side effects that I have noticed.. next week will be my third week so it could be early days yet.

Welcome Mad Megs, I have used different NRT's in the past and Champix was the best one for me. In saying that the nightmarish dreams were hard to take, so I dropped the evening tablet this still worked for me. Some people have recommended taking the 2nd tablet with food. which might help. As for not smoking I had no trouble but you have to remember to make another date to stop the champix, I chose mine earlier than the guidelines suggested but this is up to you. Nicotine is not present with this medication so this is another plus, the rest is psychological keep on going and never look back you will be pleasantly surprised at your progress keep NOPE (not one puff ever) as your mantra and this can be used as much and in any way that you like.

That's a lot changes MadMeg, but you can do them. Mind you choose healthy foods to sate your appetite and not empty calories. Drink water to flush out the toxins and let Champix work for you. While it takes the enjoyment out of smoking due to the taste and not as much satisfaction as smoking which gave us a jolt of dopamine, replace the jolt with other things. Lavender and learning also raise dopamine, as do good feeling things like love, hugs and kisses. Serotonin found in foods induce good feelings and sense of well being.

Read our stories and find the DESIRE to quit smoking and drinking and imagine the new life you can create for yourself with the money saved. Envision you in the life you want.

You can quit smoking. BELIEVE in yourself. We did and you CAN.

Thank you both for the wonderful supportive comments. I have great determination to succeed, I have made it through my quit date today! I will take it one day at a time. NOPE I will be using this for sure, thank you.

Hi, i just started taking champix yesterday also as i couldn't quit cold turkey i tried but slipped up a few months ago and have been smoking until now.. i had my last smoke today and i did notice yesterday it wasn't tasting very nice either which was probably a good thing. I know it's going to be a stressful time as well but good on you! You can do it! and you guys give me the motivation to quit too! and save money and be healthy i just think it'll be hard finding ways to cope as your so used to routine but that is where i should try and do things differently.
